An out-of-the box solution that gets your students learning!
Express Yourself Plus is an out-of-the-box solution to get your Secondary 3, 4 and 5 students motivated to learn English. Based on the widely successful Express Yourself series, these activity books develop all three competencies, as well as knowledge correlated to the MELS Progression of Learning. But most importantly, these activity books include themes, activities and an online platform that will get your students excited about communicating in English.
Teachers also benefit from the out-of-the-box concept as Express Yourself Plus comes with an easy-to-use Teacher’s Annotated Edition that makes planning simple. Included in the teacher’s package is a projectable digital version of the Activity Book that offers more than just a copy of the activity book. Teachers also get access to the Companion Website Plus, where students can practise reading, listening, watching, grammar and vocabulary at home thanks to the motivating self-graded exercises. The self-grading functionality reduces correction time while still allowing teachers to track students’ grades and progress.
Tried and tested themes
Some of the most popular themes from Express Yourself, along with brand-new upbeat topics, have been integrated into each book to motivate students to share their thoughts and opinions in English.
Focus on vocabulary development
New words and phrases are presented throughout the units and texts, with solid activities that ensure students practise and reinvest the target vocabulary.
Well-structured units
Each of the six units contains two readings, one listening, one watching, two grammar points, one major oral activity and multiple writing tasks, providing teachers and students with comprehensive coverage of all three competencies.
Contextualized grammar
Grammar is dealt with in-context within units. Examples of a particular notion are drawn from authentic texts, practised and then applied in student production tasks. Grammar workshops offer more intensive practice of the same notion. Online self-corrected practice activities allow consolidation and further practice if necessary.
Extensive writing opportunities
Writing activities and final tasks are included in every unit, with strategies and a step-by-step approach to the writing process to help students become more autonomous writers.
Comprehensive workshops
Reading, writing and grammar workshops give students ample opportunity to reinvest the skills and knowledge acquired in the units.
