As well as dealing with how people communicate at work, Lifestyle also helps learners interact effectively outside of the work environment, enabling them to “get things done” in a variety of situations.

Irene Barrall has enjoyed a successful career as a teacher, author and teacher trainer and has worked in a variety of interesting countries. Prior to teaching, she gained valuable business insight through her work in marketing and banking. Publications for Pearson include the award winning Intelligent Business series and the Lifestyle series. She has also written material for electronic media and graded readers as well as prize winning fiction and is a school governor in charge of literacy development.
Iwonna Dubicka has over 15 years’ experience as a Business English trainer, including teacher training and six years as Director of Studies of English at In Company Languages in Barcelona. She has also worked as an online tutor for the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, Catalonia’s Open University. She is the co-author of various English language titles together with Margaret O’Keeffe, including English for International Tourism Pre-Intermediate and the new Advanced level of the successful Market Leader (Pearson).
Vicki Hollett wrote her very first book for Pearson back in 1982. Since then she has gone on to write many courses for other publishers, including a couple of first prize winners in the English Speaking Union competition. She has taught English in Japan, Algeria, the UK and the US, and worked for International House, EF Executive Centres, Bell Language Schools, and the University of Pennsylvania. She has conducted Business English teacher training syllabus development work for Cambridge ESOL and delivered workshops for teachers in Europe, the Far East and South America. Vicki is delighted to ‘come home’ to Pearson for the publication of Lifestyle.
Margaret O’Keeffe is a freelance writer, teacher and course designer specializing in Business English and ESP. Based in Barcelona since 1991, she has written online English language materials for the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya in Spain and is an online tutor with the university. She is co-author of English for International Tourism (Pre-Intermediate) and she has recently written the Market Leader Advanced course book along with Iwonna Dubicka. When she isn’t working, she enjoys cycling in the hills.
John Rogers has over 30 years’ teaching experience in Central and South-East Europe, UK and Belgium. He has been involved in initial teacher training for the private EFL sector as well as in INSET for the British Council, has worked as a CESOL and IELTS examiner and lectured on Semantics and on Discourse Analysis at the University of Montenegro. He is the author of the Market Leader Practice Files and has contributed extensively to the Market Leader Premier Website. He is also the co-author of Lifestyle Elementary and Lifestyle Upper Intermediate Coursebooks.
Norman Whitby has an MA in TEFL from the University of Reading and the RSA Diploma. He taught in Italy for eleven years firstly in Tuscany, and then moved to Naples and Rome. In 1997 he moved to Egypt where he worked at the British Council Cairo, firstly as senior teacher and then as human resources manager. He returned to the UK in 2001 and since then he has worked largely as a trainer for IELTS, English for Special Purposes and as a materials writer. He is the author of another complete business English course and the co-author of materials for IELTS preparation. He currently lives in North London.
