Project editor – K-12

Occasionally, we need talented project editors to manage and coordinate the publishing of printed and digital educational materials in many domains. Once you submit your CV, you will appear in the human resources database, which is consulted regularly by our staff to meet their project management needs.

General responsibilities

Under the managing editor, you will ensure the completion of your projects, respecting the deadlines and budgets provided at the beginning of each mandate.
More specifically, you will coordinate editing projects by:

  • Ensuring the accuracy of the content, the quality of the texts, the coherence of the manuscripts and the success of the iconographic research
  • Supervising the work of various team members (copy editors, scientific revisers, editors, proofreaders, consultants, researchers, index developers, etc.)
  • Following the preset guidelines and ministerial standards of approval
  • Ensuring that the product meets the clients’ needs

Desired skills

  • Relevant university education
  • Five (5) years of project management experience in publishing (educational publishing experience an asset)
  • Sense of organization and thoroughness
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Excellent mastery of English
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style and Canadian spelling
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make quick editorial decisions
  • Ability to select images relevant to the target audience an asset
  • Teamwork skills
  • Strong knowledge of general software (MS Office suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Acrobat DC)
  • Strong knowledge of MEES programs an asset
